"ICU" refers to the situation where an employee may suffer from a variety of serious illnesses after enduring long working hours and can be sent directly to the ICU.
Manpower cost is one of the biggest cost for the enterprise. In times of economic difficulty, enterprises often use two ways to reduce labor costs: one is to reduce wages; the other is to lay off employees. Therefore, when 58.com introduced the "996" policy, many employees questioned that "996" was a "disguised layoff" and forced employees to leave. When companies go through the formal process of lay-offs, they often pay much more compensation to their employees, so forcing them out saves the company a lot of money. And Ma Yun, one of the most famous entrepreneurs on Internet business, approved of this work schedule and once commented: "Today, China's BAT companies are capable of 996 work schedule. In this world, every one of us wants to succeed, to have a better life and to be respected. I would like to ask you all, how can you achieve the success you want without putting in more efforts and time than others? Can you not give? No."
However,Some netizens said that a company should not only give its employees a goal to strive for, but also give them a sense of belonging and identity. Not everyone wants to be big. It is stated clearly in the law that companies can lengthen working hours, but they mustn'exceed 1 hour in a day, 36 hours in a month. However, the 996 work system requires much more overtime than that. So 996shouldn’t be supported by law.
As to me, if I were offered a 996 job, I don't think I would like it, for a lot of things will be troubled by the 996 work system, which requires people to learn to adjust their emotions in different ways.
